In Muir’s last two trips to Bonita, its offense has not reached the end zone. Both of the Mustangs’ touchdowns have come from the defense.

In 2024, then-sophomore defensive lineman Jason Brown recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown after pressuring the quarterback. Fast-forward to 2026, when Bradley Stinson’s pick-six provided Muir’s only points and gave the Mustangs an early 6–0 lead.

Playing their season opener under new head coach Matt Villaseñor and without their projected starting quarterback, the Mustangs struggled offensively but remained within one score until midway through the fourth quarter, when Bonita sealed the victory with an 80-yard touchdown drive.

Muir will regroup before facing Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon of Henderson, Nevada, on Friday, August 28, at 6 p.m.
